Paul Adom-Otchere Released After OSP Detention

Paul Adom-Otchere, former Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Board, has been released following his recent detention by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). His arrest stemmed from investigations into a revenue assurance contract allegedly awarded without the full approval of the GACL board.

Initially, Adom-Otchere faced stringent bail conditions that required two landed properties registered in his name. Unable to meet these requirements, he remained in custody for days. However, his fortunes changed when the Jospong Group of Companies stepped forward to act as surety under revised bail terms, paving the way for his release.

Following the release, Adom-Otchere posted a video capturing an emotional homecoming. In the footage, he’s seen sharing heartfelt moments with family members, including a warm exchange with his wife. He also extended gratitude to prominent figures such as former President Nana Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Samira Bawumia for their support.

As the legal battle unfolds, there remains a dispute over the nature of the charges against him. While the OSP insists that formal charges have been filed, his lawyer, Lenin Anane Agyei, contests the claim, stating that his client is merely under investigation and has not been formally charged with any offense.

The case, rooted in potential procurement breaches, continues to attract public attention. With legal interpretations clashing and more details likely to emerge, this story is far from over.
